Privacy Policy

runpace.no uses no cookies and stores no personal data. From version 2.0 the iOS app has no ads and no tracking, and collects nothing about you. The ads that existed in versions 1.5 to 1.7 are described at the bottom — they still apply to you if you have not updated the app.

Who is responsible

RunPace (runpace.no) is operated by a private individual. Contact: kontakt@runpace.no

What we collect on the website

RunPace uses no cookies. The site uses a custom-built, self-hosted analytics system that records the following on each page visit:

No personal data such as name, email or identifiable data is stored. The data is used solely to understand aggregate traffic and improve the site.

Storage

Anonymised analytics data is stored on a private server in Norway. Data is not shared with third parties and is not sold.

Your rights (GDPR)

For this website, no personal data is stored, so there is in practice nothing to delete or export. The same is true of the app from version 2.0 onwards. If you are still on an older version with ads, that data sits with Google, and requests about it are best directed there — but you are welcome to contact kontakt@runpace.no either way, and we will help where we can.

Cookies

RunPace uses no cookies. No cookies are set in your browser, and you do not need to consent to anything when visiting the site.

The iOS app

The same calculator is available as an iOS app, published on the App Store as RunPace by the same developer. The app has no account and no login, it does not use the analytics described above, and every calculation happens on your device. From version 2.0 the app collects nothing about you at all — there are no ads, no tracking and no third parties inside it. That is also what Apple shows on the App Store product page, under the "Data Not Collected" label.

RunPace Pro: two of the screens in the app — Race times and Training paces — are unlocked with a one-time purchase. The purchase is handled entirely by Apple. We never receive your card number, your name or your email address; the app simply asks Apple, on the device, whether the purchase exists, and gets a yes or a no. Everyone who had the app before version 2.0 keeps everything for free.

Apple Health: If you choose to, RunPace can read the latest VO₂max value (cardio fitness) from Apple Health to calculate training zones and a starting point for race prediction. The value is used only on your device at that moment, and is never stored or sent anywhere — not to us and not to third parties. Access to Apple Health is optional; all features of the app work without it. You can turn off access at any time in the app's settings, or in iOS under Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.

Ads in older versions of the app (1.5–1.7)

From version 1.5, in September 2026, RunPace showed a small banner ad at the bottom of the screen. The ads were removed in version 2.0, together with all the software that delivered them. Update the app and they are gone — and then nothing in this section applies to you any more. The text remains because some people have not updated yet.

Who saw ads: only users whose first download was version 1.5, 1.6 or 1.7. If you installed RunPace before the ads arrived, you never saw them — the ad software was never started for you, and no request was ever made on your behalf.

What Google received: when a banner was loaded, Google's ad software collected and processed data about the device and the ad, on our behalf and as an independent controller. This typically included:

That data was never linked to a name, an email address or an account with us. We never received it in identifiable form; we only saw aggregate revenue figures in AdMob. How Google uses such data is described in Google's privacy policy for partner sites and apps.

Health data was never used for advertising. Your VO₂max value never left your device and was never passed to the ad network, in any form.

If you want to be rid of the ads, simply update to the latest version on the App Store. It is free, and you keep everything you already had. Questions are welcome at kontakt@runpace.no.
